AWS Certification Exam Details

Language and Delivery:

AWS Certified Solutions Architect exam is an associate-level exam. This exam is available in English, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese so far. This exam could be scheduled online through AWS training and certification portals, and anyone can take this exam at the testing center spread across the different regions worldwide, according to the available exam schedules.

Time and cost:

It takes 130 minutes to complete the AWS Certified Solutions Architect exam. The cost of an exam is 150 US Dollars. One could also take a practice exam, the cost of which is 20 US Dollars. These costs could vary from every region depending on their currencies. These costs are exclusive of Certification training and mediatory prices.

Pattern and format:

The exam will be consisting of two types of questions; multiple choices and multiple answers. In multiple choices, there will be one right option out of four choices and in multiple answers, there will be two or more right answers out of five or more options.

There are different exam patterns for AWS Solutions Architect certification. The exam will be divided into domains and further divided into sub-domains. The previous version of the exam SAA-C01 is having the following pattern:

Domain 2: Define Performant Architectures

Domain 3: Specify Secure Applications and Architectures

Domain 4: Design Cost-Optimized Architectures

Domain 5: Define Operationally-Excellent Architectures

The new version of exam SAA-C02 is having the following pattern:

Domain 1: Design Resilient Architectures

Domain 2: Design High-Performing Architectures

Domain 3: Design Secure Applications and Architectures

Domain 4: Design Cost-Optimized Architectures

Exam and registration date:

In the previous version of the exam, SAA-C01 could be taken on March 22, 2020, which is the last date to give the previous exam. For the new version, SAA-C02 the exam could be taken on or after March 23, 2020.

Who is eligible to give AWS Certified Solutions Architect Exam?

This exam is for the persons who are in the role of Solution Architect and looking forward to developing their skills and learning about AWS solution Architect. The one who fulfills the following prerequisites is eligible to give AWS Solutions Architect Exam:

One year of experience of designing distributed systems on AWS

Knowledge about AWS global infrastructure

Experience in AWS services like networking, storage, databases, etc.

Knowledge of networking technologies

Knowledge and experience on cloud

Knowledge of building applications on AWS

Experience of working with AWS deployment and management services

Preparing for AWS Certification Exam

One could prepare through the available AWS training courses or prepare with the help or certified training partner available in the different regions. AWS also provides whitepapers which could help in exam preparation.

Many training institutes get partnered or certified by AWS and provide classroom training to individuals. This could incur additional costs for the applicant besides the examination fees as the classroom training may include service charges accordingly.
